OPENING NIGHT- NY PREMIERE - FOLLOWED BY A RECEPTION
The Insult is a modern-day fable about dignity and justice in Lebanon, in which a trivial disagreement between a Palestinian construction worker
and his Christian neighbor leads to a taut courtroom drama that practically escalates into civil war. Doueiri, who started his career working as first camera assistant on Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown, uses his experience along with his intimate
understanding of Lebanese society to probe under the façade of post–civil war “normality.”
2017. 113 m. France/Lebanon/Cyprus/Belgium. Arabic with subtitles.
