SHADY HANNA / CARONA
Shady Hanna is a Lebanese director who rose to prominence in the early 1990s with the release of a locally-produced comedy show called S.L.CHI. Lebanon’s civil war had just ended and the country was in dire need of comic relief. Hanna co-created, wrote and directed S.L.CHI, hiring non-actors. It became a commercial hit, running for nine consecutive seasons on Lebanon’s MTV.
In 2000, he directed the film version of the series, S.L.Film. That too became a success and a cult classic.
Staying in the realm of comedy and continuing to rely on fresh talent, Hanna recreated his success by developing LOL, a late-night comedy show for OTV. That, too, become a smashing success.
Juggling between TV & feature films, Hanna directed the Lebanese romcom movie Yalla Aa’belkon Chabeb (2016).
In addition to comedy shows and films, Hanna writes and directs music videos and TV commercials.
