Ziad Doueiri was born in Lebanon and studied filmmaking in the United States. He has made several short films and worked as an assistant cameraman on several features directed by Quentin Tarantino. His directorial debut West Beirut (98) a coming-of-age story set in Beirut at war, circa 1975 screened at the Festival at all the major festivals and collected many awards along the way. It was followed Lila Says (04). The Attack is his third feature.
