Hisham Zaman, a Norwegian director of Kurdish origin, graduated from The Norwegian Film School at Lillehammer in 2004.
His breakthrough film, the short, Bawke (2005) became a hit on the international festival circuit, and received more than 40 national and international awards.
His first feature film Before Snowfall opened the Tromsø International Film Festival in 2013.
