Award-winning Lebanese filmmaker, Ziad Doueiri was born 1963.

At 18, at the height of the Lebanese civil war, he left to study in the US.

Doueiri first gained notice, as a camera assistant with Quentin Tarantino for Jackie Brown, From Dusk Till Dawn, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs.

His debut film, West Beirut (1998), which he both wrote and directed, catapulted him into the limelight. It was followed by Lila Says (2004) and The Attack (ANA2013). 

Doueiri splits his time between France, the US and Beirut.
