I Am Nojoom Age 10 and Divorced / Khadija Al-Salami

I am Nojoom is an adaptation of the international bestseller about 10-year old Nujood, who made international headlines in 2009 when she protested against her arranged marriage. 

In the film, 10 year-old Nojoom is forced to marry a 30-year-old man. The dowry offered the family a small income and 'one less mouth to feed'.  Her husband is indifferent to her age. Every day after she is wedded, Nojoom works under harsh conditions and every night, she is raped. A legitimate and acceptable arrangement for all, except for Nojoom.

Nujood became the figurehead of the fight against child brides in Yemen. According to figures of the UN and the Yemeni government, some 50% of Yemeni girls are married before they are 18, while 15% are married before the age of 15.
