MAHA HAJ / MEDITERRANEAN FEVER
Maha HAJ is a Palestinian filmmaker and screenwriter.
She started life as a teacher before moving into film as a set designer and art director on titles such as The Time That Remains (2009) [ANA2012].
Haj wrote and directed the short film Oranges (2009) and the documentary Behind These Walls (2010).
Her first feature Personal Affairs (2016) was nominated for Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard official selection and won numerous awards, including Haifa Film Festival’s Best Feature and a Special Mention for International Feature Film at Zurich Film Festival.
Her 2nd feature Mediterranean Fever, also debuted in the Un Certain Regard section of the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival in 2022, where it won the best screenplay award.
