TARIK SALEH / CAIRO CONSPIRACY
Swedish-Egyptian director Tarik Saleh was born in Stockholm in 1972 to a Swedish mother and an Egyptian father.
His varied career saw him as an animator, a publisher, a journalist and a film director. In 1990, he was one of Sweden's most prominent graffiti artists, co-creating Fascinate.
He and his producer, Kristina Åberg, are two of the founders of the production company Atmo.
Saleh directed and co-wrote Metropia (2009 Venice International Film Festival), featuring Vincent Gallo, Juliette Lewis, and Stellan Skarsgård, He co- directed the award-winning documentary, Gitmo, and the thriller, Tommy (2014).
He also produced the music video I Follow Rivers for Lykke Li, which has garnered nearly 60 million YouTube views.
His Movie The Nile Hilton Incident [ANA2017] won the Grand Jury Prize for Dramatic Film in the World Cinema Section at Sundance 2017, and won five awards, including Best Film at the 53rd Guldbagge Awards.
His 2nd feature, Boy from Heaven /CAIRO CONSPIRACY, was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
