Nour-Eddine Lakhmari was born in Safi on Morocco’s Western Atlantic coast in 1964. At the age f 19, he went to France to study pharmacy. After two years, he decided to leave pharmacy school and pursue life as an artist. He continued his studies at the Academy of Cinema in Norway. He directed his first film The Eye in 2005. It was followed by Casa Negra in 2008. Casa Negra was Morocco's official entry to the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film category. Zero is his 3rd feature.
