For over 20 years, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige have collaborated as filmmakers and artists, producing cinematic and visual artworks that intertwine. They've focused on the images, representations and history of their home country, Lebanon, and questioned the fabrication of imaginaries in the region and beyond.

Together, they have directed documentaries such as Khiam 2000-2007 (2008), El Film el Mafkoud (2003) and feature films such as Al Bayt el Zaher (1999) and A Perfect Day (2005). Their feature, Je Veux Voir, starring Catherine Deneuve and Rabih Mroue, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008. The French Critics Guild chose it as the Best Film Singulier. Their documentary, The Lebanese Rocket Society [ANA 2014], premiered at the Toronto International FIlm Festival. All their works have been released worldwide and collected many international awards.

Their artwork too, has been exhibited in prominent museums, biennales and art centers worldwide. In 2017, they were awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize.

Hadjithomas and Joreige are the co-founders of Abbout Productions and serve as executive board members of the Metropolis Cinema in Beirut. They divide their time between Beirut and Paris.
