HEAVEN WITHOUT PEOPLE / LUCIEN BOURJEILY

€0.00

New York première

The matriarch of a sprawling Lebanese family, is delighted to gather everyone for Easter lunch for the first time in two years. As with many family get-togethers, what starts out as a joyful meal, gradually reveals buried resentments, deep hidden secrets, and is threatened by derailment when money goes missing and accusations start to fly. The realistic setting and hand-held camera moves are reminiscent of the Dogme 95 movement’s, The Celebration, and belies Bourjeily’s theater background.

The film premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival in 2017, where it took home the Special Jury Prize.

Jacob Burns Film Center: Sunday 9/23/2018 6:00 PM - 7:31 PM

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM): Wednesday 10/3/2018 7:00 PM - 8:31 PM
