Les Petits Chats / Sherif Nakhla

€0.00

Spurred on by old photos the director saw of his parents dancing on the beaches of Alexandria, Egypt, in the 60s and 70s, and reflecting on present day Alexandria, the director found himself, asking his parents’ friends about the band “Les Petits Chats”. The glow in their eyes told him all he needed to know.

The hugely popular cover band, attracted crowds of crazed fans when they toured. When the band eventually broke up, they all went on to enjoy individual celebrity status. After three decades, they briefly reunited—and filmmaker Sherif Nakhla was there to capture all the musical, nostalgic bliss.

The film also provides a great portrait of Cairo’s “golden age,” a thrilling time of café society, a sophisticated art scene, and booming business.

Les Petits Chats premiered at the Arabian Sights Film Festival in Washington, DC.
